Jalandhar Development Authority(JDA)

Comprising of 6 Urban Local Bodies and 254 villages in Jalandhar & Kapurthala Districts, Jalandhar Development Authority came into existence on 16th July, 2007 vide Punjab Government Notification No. 13 / 31 / 04-1HG2 / 5370. The proximity to Jalandhar City, Jalandhar Cantt., Kartarpur, Alawalpur, Adampur & Phagwara urban dwellings, the primary area crucial to the development of Authority is spread from Phagwara to Jalandhar and then Jalandhar to Kapurthala Highways. Jalandhar & Phagwara towns are known for Industrial set up. Jalandhar is known for export of sports gear, leather goods and hand tools. The City of Jalandhar has also attained marked distinction in educational institutions and print / electronic media. The Jalandhar Development Authority was created with main objective of developing the areas under its jurisdictions in planned manner and in consonance with the existing growth of the town. To cater to its clientele, the Authority aims at growth of the existing infrastructure to the optimum benefit to public in general. The future growth of the Authority aims at area homogeneously providing facilities for residential sector, industrial requirements, institutional needs without disturbing ecological balance and agricultural bastion of the State in disciplined manner. Falling in affluent Doaba region, Jalandhar Development Authority aims to strive at catering to the aspirations of the N.R.I. cluster also. "The public needs with utmost sense of professionalism" is the motto of Jalandhar Development Authority.

The Authority has been created with a purpose to structure, design and organize the Commercial / Industrial / Financial / Educational / Print Media and Sports hub of Punjab. There is a wide scope of N.R.I. Investors in the properties in and around Jalandhar; thus elevating it to be lebelled as city of future hope. The broad scope of work of this authority falls outside the Municipal Corporation limits.

To achieve the above known requirements of the area, efforts are afoot to prepare the Master Plan of Jalandhar Development Authority. While preparing the blue print of the Master Plan, the public involvement was ensured. No organization can achieve its intended objective without people’s participation. A Think Tank comprising of experts from several fields (Architects, Town Planners, Engineers, Education Establishments, Real Estate & N.G.Os) were drawn to assimilate the varied view points.
